“According to Simmons, regardless of the psychological effect that a story’s journey or narrative has on its listeners or tellers, there are only ever six stories that can be told:
who am I stories; why am I here stories; vision stories; teaching stories; values in action stories; and I know what you’re thinking stories, so stories that are external facing or inwardly directed.
And all, as planners will tell you, are stories that we re-interpret again and again when strategising about tomorrow – especially if we are trying to make our forecasts work for people.”
