Ever thought about new ways to gather insights for strategy?
Loved visiting the Conflictorium at The Sydney Festival. A great inspiration for how strategists should gather insights!
“Conflictorium is a facilitated space for reflection and shared understanding, internationally recognised for its thoughtful approach to empathy-building in times of conflict.
Originating in India, Conflictorium is an award-winning interactive museum that received New York’s Jane Lombard Prize for Arts and Social Justice. Developed by a collective of artists, mediators, historians and peacebuilders, this project unpacks how conflict can be understood, navigated and transformed.
In a time when many people are feeling shaken or uncertain, Conflictorium invites visitors to slow down and consider how we live with disagreement, complexity and contradiction. The work approaches conflict not as confrontation, but as something that can be engaged with creatively by facilitating space for listening, dialogue and repair.”
A huge thank you to everyone who tested it, questioned it, and pushed it to be better. Your feedback shaped this and I’m committed to continuously improving it with you.

If you are a marketer, entrepreneur, parent, educator, HR leader, strategist, founder, content creator, or brand builder… you cannot afford to misunderstand these two generations.
Why?
Because, Generation Z is projected to reach US $12.6 trillion in global spending by 2030. Separately, Generation Alpha is projected to have an economic footprint of US $5.4–5.5 trillion by 2029. Combining these figures, brands that focus on Gen Z + Gen Alpha are targeting tens of trillions in future consumer power.
They shape brand trends, viral culture, workplace culture, creator economy, tech adoption, social movements, buying behaviors, the future of every industry.
Yet most brands, leaders, and even parents… ❌ Still don’t know how they think ❌ Still don’t understand their anxieties ❌ Still misread their values ❌ Still use outdated strategies ❌ Still treat them like “kids” in an adult-designed world
Zalphas are NOT the future. They are the NOW. If you don’t study them, you will lose relevance fast.
By the end of the workshop, you will walk away with: ✔ A deep understanding of what shapes Gen Z + Alpha ✔ New clarity on their behaviour, identity, fears and motivations ✔ Cultural intelligence that lets you interpret youth signals with confidence ✔ Algorithm literacy: Understanding how digital ecosystems shape their world ✔ A modern communication toolkit that earns trust and reduces conflict ✔ Insight into the psychology behind their decisions, buying patterns and loyalties ✔ A future-ready mindset and the foresight to anticipate youth trends ✔ Tools for building stronger relationships, better conversations and authentic engagement ✔ A complete reframe of modern childhood, adolescence and youth culture ✔ A competitive edge, whether you’re a brand, marketer, parent, educator or leader
And more…
Who It’s For: ⚡Marketing teams ⚡Advertising & brand agencies ⚡Founders & entrepreneurs ⚡School leaders, teachers & counsellors ⚡HR & L&D leaders ⚡Parents & caregivers ⚡Youth-focused organizations ⚡Anyone shaping the future of products, media or culture
Are you ready to understand the most powerful youth cohort in History? The Zalphas are here. They’re bold, fluid, anxious, ambitious, overstimulated, creative, values-driven and algorithm-shaped.
To reach them, lead them, raise them or sell to them, you need a new lens. This workshop gives it to you.

Here’s a post on our workshop on the art of storytelling…
The Story Never Dies. It’s been years, decades maybe, in the world of advertising. And yet, one thing has never lost its magic. Storytelling. I’ve come to realise that the art of storytelling isn’t just what we do… It’s why we do it. When there’s no story, there’s no soul. Every campaign, every pitch, every idea, it all begins with a story that moves us, that connects us, that makes us feel. Over the years, I’ve been lucky to have countless conversations about this with clients and colleagues who believe in the same magic. Together, we’ve explored how stories don’t just sell, they speak. At Brandself, I’ve poured that belief into something I’m deeply proud of: A Storytelling Workshop designed to help you find, shape, and share your story with impact. It’s been heard, practised, and celebrated by some wonderful teams and clients and now, I’m opening it up for more. Whether you’re a marketer, strategist, creative professional, entrepreneur or a budding storyteller, this workshop is for you. Not just for your brand’s story, but for your own. Because storytelling isn’t confined to a brief or a brand deck. It’s how we make people care. So, if you’d like to explore the principles and practice of storytelling with me, drop me a message. Let’s craft something unforgettable together. Because when we tell better stories, we build better connections. And that, to me, is where the soul of this business truly lives.
How Strategy Smiles in Execution: How ECU Psychology Students Transformed Employee Engagement at Rec Alley
Strategy only matters when it’s executed – and executed well. At Brandself, we believe the real magic of strategy lives not in the planning decks, but in the people who bring it to life. That’s why we’re proud to spotlight a recent collaboration between Rec Alley, Practera, and Edith Cowan University Psychology students – a story of strategy turning into transformation.
The Challenge: Rec Alley faced an all-too-familiar issue: employee engagement scores were low, leadership clarity was unclear, and internal communication needed a boost. Rather than look outward for consultants, Rec Alley looked to fresh talent through Practera’s virtual industry projects, partnering with ECU psychology students to uncover human-centred insights.
The Process: Guided by The Smiling Strategist, the student team dove deep into organisational psychology and leadership strategy. Their research and recommendations were practical, focused, and most importantly, actionable. They advised Rec Alley to:
Restructure leadership for clarity and accountability.
Introduce regular feedback mechanisms.
Invest in professional development.
Strengthen communication across teams.
The Results: Twelve months after implementation, the numbers told the story of true strategic execution:
Employee eNPS: rose from –19 to +35.5
Leadership clarity: improved by 35%
Customer NPS: tripled in several locations
Rec Alley CEO Ozren Vukelic summed it up:
“The students’ insights shaped our management structure and culture. The results speak for themselves.”
The Takeaway: This is what strategy that smiles looks like – ideas turned into impact through collaboration, execution, and learning. For Practera and ECU students, it’s proof that work-integrated learning isn’t just an academic exercise; it’s a launchpad for meaningful change. For Rec Alley, it’s a reminder that investing in people is always a winning strategy.
